Sindh government celebrates the successful completion of the Sindh Basic Education Programme (SBEP)
At a ceremony conducted at Government School Damba Village in Karachi, the Sindh government, in collaboration with the United States, celebrated the effective completion of the Sindh Basic Education Programme (SBEP).
$159.2 million was provided by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to construct 106 schools and improve Sindh’s educational system. The event was attended by US Ambassador Donald Blome, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, a former minister of Sindh’s education and literacy department, and Dr. Shereen Mustafa, the secretary of Sindh’s education and literacy department. “We firmly believe that it is one of the best investments we can make in any country,” the diplomat stated. “Let’s continue to expand access to education, prioritise learning, so that all children can get quality education.”
In reaction to the terrible floods that devastated Sindh’s school infrastructure, SBEP was created. Today, more than 80,000 students from underprivileged backgrounds may receive a top-notch education in cutting-edge, climate-resilient schools, preparing a whole generation for success in the twenty-first century.
In addition to providing a safe refuge for the surrounding communities, these new schools will act as hubs for community and parent involvement.
Apart from constructing schools, the initiative fortified communities and unveiled inventive approaches to school administration, laying the groundwork for prosperous public-private collaborations that are already being imitated in other regions.
