The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) competitions and a display of final year projects on February 13, 2024.
The event was organized by the UET Science Society, and participation was extensive, involving all departments of UET Lahore, including its campuses in Faisalabad, Narowal, New Campus Kala Shah Kaku, and Rachna College of Engineering and Technology, Gujranwala.
The Vice-Chancellor of UET Lahore, Professor Dr. Naseer Hyatt, inaugurated the ceremony in collaboration with Professor Dr. Shahid Rafique, the advisor to the Science Society. The event drew participants from over 20 universities across Pakistan, with a total of 71 stalls showcasing various projects.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Naseer Hyatt expressed enthusiasm for the STEM competitions, emphasizing that such events not only foster excitement among students but also encourage critical thinking, collaborative work, and innovative ideas.
He highlighted the significance of the projects presented in the current competition, suggesting that attention to these endeavors could play a vital role in the country’s future development. STEM competitions are held annually to showcase the skills of students in science and technology. These competitions take place initially at the university level and then at the inter-university level. The top three students in each category receive cash prizes. This year, the announcement was made to award 50,000, 30,000, and 20,000 cash prizes to the first, second, and third position holders, respectively.
