Doctor Arrested in Connection with School Bus Terrorism Incident
Authorities have arrested Dr. Zulqernain Butt, a senior anesthetist, in connection with a shocking incident that unfolded on Wednesday morning in the Cantonment area. The doctor allegedly opened fire on two school buses, one of which was carrying students at the time.
According to police reports, the incident began when Dr. Butt, driving behind the buses on Bedian Road, became enraged after his car collided with one of them as it slowed to make a U-turn near Waqas Market. In a fit of anger, he reportedly retrieved a handgun and fired multiple shots, with one bullet striking a bus tire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, as the affected bus was empty of children during the incident.
Following the altercation, Dr. Butt returned home, picked up his children, dropped them off at school, and continued to his part-time job at a private hospital. Police later recovered the 9mm pistol believed to have been used, stored in a locker at the hospital.
Investigators have since revealed that Dr. Butt has a history of anger and violent outbursts over minor disputes. An FIR has been registered against him under terrorism and attempted murder charges.
The swift action of the school bus driver, who alerted the school management and authorities, played a critical role in resolving the situation without further harm.
