Sindh Establishes a Committee to Examine Controversial Inter Exam Findings
A committee of parliamentarians was formed by the Sindh Assembly on Monday to look into the recent contentious Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) exam results for Karachi pupils.
After being denied the chance to voice their concerns on the disappointing HSSC results, opposition members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan demonstrated at the assembly’s recent session last week.
Under the direction of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the newly established committee would conduct a comprehensive probe into all issues pertaining to the HSSC exam results.
In response, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, the minister of Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs, gave lawmakers his word that the government would not jeopardise students’ academic futures. Additionally, he pledged that competent people will be recruited to chair Sindh’s public examination boards shortly.
According to Lanjar, the inquiry committee would interact with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi’s administration and take into account the complaints of the impacted pupils.
MPA Sadia Javed, Abdul Waseem, Taha Ahmed, and Shabbir Ahmed are on the committee.
Khairunnisa Mughal, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Sindh Cooperation Department, separately told the assembly during question hour that the province government is in charge of registering cooperative housing societies and holding timely elections.
She mentioned that the Anti-Corruption Establishment was consulted in several cases, and that an inquiry officer had been assigned to handle accusations of anomalies in cooperative housing associations. In order to guarantee accountability and transparency in these societies, the Mughal informed parliamentarians that the government upholds a system of checks and balances.
She cited the Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) Scheme 33 as an outstanding illustration of a cooperative housing community that operates effectively.
