Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has laid the foundation for improvements in the education sector.
The provincial government has undertaken several major revolutionary initiatives in education, including the establishment of scholarships for talented students, the first public school reorganization, higher education internships, Chief Minister’s school nutrition program, Lahore Kindergarten School, buses for girls’ colleges in every tehsil, a Back to School campaign for admissions, new classrooms in public schools, and the creation of science and IT laboratories.
Maryam Nawaz has requested a plan for Artificial Intelligence education in primary classes, modeled after China.
Additionally, for the first time in Punjab, a single authority is being established for curriculum formation, teacher training, and other matters, following tests and interviews for education officers at the division, district, and tehsil levels based on merit.
Similarly, the restructuring of the School Education Council, the laptop scheme, solar-powered charging stations in colleges and universities, new universities, and the launch of the Green School program are all set to take place soon. Agreements have also been made to hold the School Hockey League and Pakistan’s largest “School Olympics,” as well as to introduce the “Theme of the Month” in public schools.
In the bus project for 76 girls’ colleges, buses have been provided to 19 colleges in the first phase.
The Public Schools Reorganization Program has saved 40 billion rupees and created job opportunities for 70,000 young people. The decision to build 5,000 new classrooms in Punjab’s PSRP schools is also part of these initiatives.
Outsourcing schools in the province has resulted in a several hundred percent increase in the number of students. The satellite internet pilot project at DPS Model Town is also part of these efforts, along with the largest-ever higher education internship program in Punjab’s history.
Recruitment for 7,354 college teacher interns in Punjab’s government colleges has been completed, and they will receive 50,000 rupees per month for six months.
Furthermore, the provincial government’s initiatives also include a milk pack project for over 400,000 students in 3,527 schools in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh, and educational expenses and awards worth millions for top students from the education board.
Punjab’s Chief Minister has increased the merit scholarships from 30,000 to 50,000 rupees, and at her directive, students will also be given e-bikes worth one lakh rupees.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Higher Education Secretary Dr. Farukh Naveed, and the entire team, stating that every child in Punjab has the right to receive the best and most modern education.
