Dental and Medical College to Be Built by Karachi University

The University of Karachi (KU) Syndicate has approved the establishment of a medical and dentistry college, which is a significant development. The choice was decided on Wednesday in the VC Secretariat during a meeting presided over by Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, the vice chancellor of KU.

Syndicate members have suggested that an objective analysis and a thorough feasibility report be created and submitted for more discussion in order to forward this proposal. Now that the proposal has been approved, KU may start looking for partners to work on the medical and dentistry college project.

The minutes of the December 29, 2023, Finance and Planning Commission meeting were accepted by the Syndicate during the meeting, and an early change to the budget for the 2024–2025 fiscal year was suggested. In addition, the Syndicate approved the nominations of a number of directors and chairpersons for various departments and organisations.

In addition, the Syndicate approved the use of the campus cemeteries for funerals by instructors, staff, and workers. In addition, they decided that, subject to their PhD credentials and the availability of budgeted jobs in their respective departments, in-service lecturers now at BPS-18 would be promoted from temporary assistant professors to BPS-19 positions.

Professor Dr. Abdul Waheed, the KU Registrar, has been directed to examine previous Syndicate resolutions and documentation pertaining to the advancement of non-teaching positions. At the following conference, he is anticipated to disclose his findings.
