Additionally, it has established two new programmes to help women and freelancers upskill, and it will offer up to 45,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificates in 2024.

A fresh training programme for novices in AI

Google AI experts are offering a new self-paced online course called Google AI Essentials. This course is intended to help people in a variety of positions and industries acquire the fundamental AI skills needed to increase productivity as well as practical experience with a range of AI tools. It does not require any prior expertise with AI.

This workshop will teach participants how to use AI tools to expedite daily job processes and generate ideas. By recognising AI’s potential biases, you’ll also learn how to ethically employ AI and develop successful prompts. Google AI Essentials is offered in English on Coursera.

The Google Career Certificates (GCC), in addition to Google AI Essentials, equip students for entry-level positions in industries with rapid growth, such as digital marketing, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Google has expanded the materials available for credentials to assist students in learning about the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry and acquiring practical experience with the technology.

Google will offer up to 45,000 scholarships for Google Career Certificates.

Eighty percent of GCC graduates in Pakistan said the programme has helped them progress in their careers since its inception in 2022. Furthermore, as per partner-led surveys (IRM/TechValley, 2023), 28% of women who completed the programme said they saw an increase in their finances, 24% said they were hired or promoted, and 91% said they felt more confident.

PAFLA Career Kamyabi and Freelancer programmes

Pakistan has the third-largest freelancing economy in the world, thus it is imperative to maintain the competitiveness of the nation’s freelance talent, particularly in the ever changing digital landscape of today. This year, Google and the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) collaborated to create a programme that will assist Pakistan’s freelancing community in addressing issues related to soft skills like communication and personal branding. 50,000 or more PAFLA freelancers may gain from the programme, which is taught by Google specialists.

Together with its longstanding partner Tech Valley, Google has developed the Career Kamyabi programme, which promotes gender parity in the workforce and seeks to foster an inclusive and encouraging work environment for women by providing equal opportunities for employment and professional growth. The goal of the programme is to inspire and empower women to enter and succeed in the workforce. By putting women in touch with possible employers, the program—which currently has the backing of more than 50 of Pakistan’s top firms—helps establish economic prospects for them.

“With the Google Career Certificates initiative, we are hoping to continue playing an effective role in Pakistan’s digital landscape,” said Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan. Our training programmes and scholarships aim to provide young Pakistanis with financial empowerment as well as opportunities to explore the tech world. We are appreciative of all of our local partners who have teamed up with us and put in a lot of effort to make sure Pakistani kids have greater opportunity to realise their full potential.

With programmes like the GCC, Google is dedicated to creating a Future Forward Pakistan. The company will keep funding projects that equip young talent with the digital skills they need to advance and thrive. The Google Career Certificates program’s third phase seeks to create a solid foothold in Pakistan and to promote inclusivity, empowerment, and a culture of learning for all.
