The “Dance for Education Programme” notification been withdrawn by the Education Ministry.
In an effort to dispel rumours that had been circulated on social media and in certain sections of the media, the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training and the National Commission for UNESCO clarified on Saturday that neither the National Commission for UNESCO of Pakistan nor the Ministry itself oversaw or planned the Dance for Education programme.
The Education Ministry did not mandate that schools take part in the “Dance for Education Programme,” according to a statement released on Saturday. Rather, the programme was distributed purely for informative purposes about UNESCO’s global projects.
The explanation letter went on to state that the Dance for Education programme is a component of a larger initiative to highlight the value of education across the globe. It further stated that the preceding letter is hereby withdrawn and that any misunderstanding that may have arisen is deeply regretted.
It is important to note that via international cooperation in education, research, culture, and communication, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) plays a critical role in promoting peace and security. One of its programmes, Dance for Education, is a part of a larger movement that aims to highlight the value of education everywhere. Through this programme, UNESCO works with nations all over the world to improve educational opportunities and cultural exchange, highlighting the transformational role of education in forming society.
The programme is included in Arts for Transformative Education: A UNESCO Associated Schools Network Teacher Guide. With the support of research, this guide encourages educators to use the Arts for transformational Education paradigm to fully realise the transformational potential of the arts.
The explanation letter further stated that the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCCO, led by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, will keep up its efforts to advance education in Pakistan.
