Old and damaged textbooks are given to Punjab students for the upcoming academic year.

Since the start of the current academic year with the use of outdated textbooks, Punjab’s provincial government has failed to supply fresh textbooks to students throughout the province.

A report from a private television programme claimed that rather than the anticipated new textbooks, students were given outdated and damaged ones.

Students were forced to utilise outdated textbooks since new textbooks were not printed in time and were not sent to them. With more than 15 million students registered in schools in Punjab, there is a demand for more than 50 million textbooks.

Some reports state that fresh book printing could be finished over the summer holidays. Concerns regarding the difficulties students have when studying from outdated texts have been expressed by teachers.

Teachers reported that studying from ancient books, more than half of which are already ripped, is very difficult for kids. Children also don’t seem to be interested in studying from old literature.

The provision of fundamental amenities in schools is the duty of the Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU), underlined General Secretary Rana Liaqat Ali.

He went on to say that PMIU is in charge of printing books on time, emphasising that even with changes in the government, PMIU personnel don’t change.
