PEIRA starts its admissions campaign.
For the academic year 2024–2025, the Private Education Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) has started an admissions campaign to mandate the introduction of 10% need-based scholarships and free education in every school.
In the letter that was sent the other day, PEIRA expressed gratitude for the part that private educational institutions played in the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training’s Zero-Out-of-School-Children Campaign, which aimed to lower the number of kids who were denied access to education. PEIRA continued this endeavour by calling for a formal, methodical government initiative to guarantee children’s right to free and compulsory education.
The authority has mandated that all applicants for enrollment in the school provide a ten percent need-based scholarship, which is also indicated on the school’s registration certificate.
Private educational institutions have been instructed to adopt the initiative of offering 10% need-based scholarship/free education in their admissions for the academic session, given the necessity to promote the admission push for poor students during the yearly admissions. It ought to be emphasised in programmes or policies.
The authorities have instructed the private schools to prominently post this notice at the admission offices and points of entry. Additionally, post this notice on the websites of all private schools, on all social media platforms, in the prospectus, and on other digital and print media platforms, such as admission forms.
The letter said that private educational institutions that do not follow this direction will face severe consequences. It further mentioned that the allocation of 10% of seats to needy students will be closely observed. Furthermore, the government will acknowledge and value the private educational institutions that provide the greatest number of scholarships to deserving applicants.
