The CDA has approved the land lease for GIKI University’s establishment of an Islamabad campus.
The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering, Sciences, and Technology has been granted permission to lease property for the building of its campus in Islamabad by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board.
Following discussion of the request from Member (P&D), the allocation of land measuring 645’x680′ (or around 80 Kanals or 10 Acres) was approved. This property is close to the SUPARCO site that has been allotted on Plot Nos. 22, 23, & 24 (partial) in Zone 4 of the Kuri Agro Farming Scheme (Concept Plan), Islamabad.
GIKI’s land allotment is contingent upon a number of factors. First, the subject land will be included in the layout design by CDA’s Planning Wing.
Second, in accordance with the terms of ILDR2005/CDA Policy, the Estate Wing of CDA will dispose of the land in accordance with established guidelines and protocols, having completed all codal formalities. Thirdly, the CDA’s Building Control Wing must approve the building plans in accordance with rules. Fourth, before the assignment letter is issued, the Finance Wing of CDA will ascertain the land’s cost.
Furthermore, in order to construct a campus in the Islamabad Capital Territory, GIKI must provide a Federal Charter. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) must also grant them permission to develop the campus in Islamabad. Furthermore, in accordance with the guidelines of the ILDR, 2005, GIKI must request permission from the Federal Cabinet before opening its campus.
The Board has determined that going forward, university plot allocations shall be rationalized up to a maximum of 10 acres.
