“To promote the inclination towards competitions among students, co-curricular efforts are essential,” said the Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University, Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was addressing the opening ceremony of the four-day interdepartmental co-curricular competitions held at Al-Razi Hall under the supervision of the Punjab University Department of Student Affairs.

The event was attended by Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Ali Klasra, faculty members, and a large number of students. In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood stated that organized efforts contribute to self-confidence, communication skills, and the development of abilities among students. He emphasized that co-curricular activities are an essential part of the educational curriculum.

He stated that the co-curricular activities instill a sense of continuous learning in individuals. Despite limited resources, the efforts of the Punjab University Department of Student Affairs in organizing the best events were appreciated. He expressed hope that students, by learning from this platform, would illuminate the name of Pakistan and Punjab University at every level.

Dr. Muhammad Ali Klasra mentioned that approximately five years after Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood took charge of the Department of Student Affairs, a four-day interdepartmental co-curricular competition is being organized, and this tradition will continue in the future.

He noted that students from various departments are participating in competitions such as recitation, essay writing, poetry, debate, parliamentary debates, dual-language speeches, quizzes, Naat (religious poetry), national songs, and English poetry.
