Allama Iqbal Open University approves changes in eligibility criteria for admission
Allama Iqbal Open University has approved changes in eligibility criteria for admission to Associate Degree and BS programs. The 50th joint meeting of the Academic Planning and Development Committee/Research and Educational Technology Committee (APDC/RETC) and the 66th meeting of the Academic Council were held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Naseer Mahmood. The meeting was organized and facilitated by the Registrar, Raja Umar Yousuf.
The meeting had the participation of heads of all departments, principal officers, and external members of AIOU. The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved, and changes in eligibility criteria for admission to Associate Degree and BS programs were also endorsed. The meeting also approved changes in the titles and subjects of some courses.
The meeting approved new programs, including Ph.D. programs in M.Phil Gender and Women Studies and Agricultural Technology, Certificate programs in Arabic, Certificate programs in Quranic Studies, and Criminology. Additionally, diploma programs in International Financial Reporting Standards and semester-based skill courses in Chemistry were also approved.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Naseer Mahmood emphasized the importance of aligning course design and curriculum preparation with the policies of the university and the Higher Education Commission. He introduced new members and expressed the commitment to make every effort for better and standardized education. The decisions and approvals made in this meeting will be confirmed in the upcoming meeting of the university’s Supreme Body (Executive Council).
