Al Jabbar

Al Jabbar

“The One that nothing happens in His Dominion except that which He willed.”

Meaning of Al Jabbar

According to Wikipedia the word, Jabbar means giant or almighty. Al Jabbar is the highest; He restores all creation.

The most beautiful explanation I came across, “He heals the broken hearted, binds their wounds, brings comfort to the weak.”

That is simply beautiful. Allah’s name Al Jabbar brings comfort and peace to the heart. Hence, calling upon His name can help us in times of distress. Remembering that Allah is the most high and He can heal our hearts, brings so much ease!

In Our Daily Lives

Let’s look at the meaning of Al Jabbar in our daily lives:

Compels you Don’t be jabbar Mend hearts Turn to Al Jabbar
Reflect on the way Allah creates you and compels you to be the way you are. Humans should not be jabbar but be slaves of Al Jabbar. For instance, be kind to your parents and don’t hurt them by your words or actions. Mend the hearts of people you have hurt or those who are suffering and Allah will mend yours. If you are struggling with life, turn to Al-Jabbar.

My Personal Experience

I was concerned about my health and my dentist did give me some warnings. I came home upset and did not tell my family in detail about the doctor’s recommendations. They were supportive but only I knew the whole story. I called upon Allah with this beautiful name, Al Jabbar. To my surprise, my dentist gave me a positive feedback on my follow up visit and was very hopeful.

Subhan Allah, it was Allah’s mercy that really changed things around. I was desperate and thus begged Allah for help and He answered!

Word of Advice for Students

As a student, you may have many apprehensions about your future. When things are getting tough for you, whether you are going to a new college/university, preparing for an exam, conducting your first presentation, just call upon Al-Jabbar. If your heart is not at ease, ask Al-Jabbar to help you. Ponder upon your life, your mind, body and soul and see how Al-Jabbar provides you with everything!

“He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller (Al Jabbar)”. [Quran, 59:23]

Believe me, when you call upon Allah with devotion and sincerity, he won’t disappoint you! Only if He has something better for you, He might not respond. Surely, His plans are better than ours!
