District Administration Seizes Admission Banners from UET Lahore

Hundreds of posters advertising the University of Engineering and Technology’s (UET) Spring 2025 admissions campaign were seized by the Lahore district administration on Friday, sparking outrage and censure from university authorities.

UET employees were loading the banners into a rickshaw outside a printing press in Royal Park when the event happened. Workers from the municipal committee, under the direction of Data Ganj Bakhsh Town’s District Zonal Officer Riaz Gujjar, intercepted and confiscated the goods.

The confiscated banners were taken to the town’s storehouse, and the owner of the printing press, Usman, was detained. UET Registrar Muhammad Asif filed a formal complaint with the deputy commissioner, describing the seizure as an unlawful interference in the university’s outreach efforts.

“The banners were being transported from the printing press when they were confiscated without justification,” the complaint, obtained by Dawn, stated.

The university has demanded the immediate return of the confiscated banners and the release of the detained press owner. The district administration has yet to respond to the allegations.
