On Friday, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, and Coursera announced the Digital Learning & Skills Enrichment Initiative (DLSEI) 3.0, which will give 100,000 staff members and students at Pakistani universities access to online learning resources.

By providing free access to more than 12,000 online courses and a variety of guided projects on Coursera, HEC will provide skill development possibilities for Pakistan’s young in the third phase of DLSEI. Faculty and students at all public and private higher education institutions can register at https://eservices.hec.gov.pk.

In 2018, HEC launched the DLSEI in collaboration with Coursera. The program’s first two phases upskilled over 45,000 youth by granting them specialised certifications from globally recognised institutions, completing over 267,000 courses, and giving more than 200 universities access to the Coursera library.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed explained the importance of the HEC-Coursera collaboration and emphasised that the goal of the two-way partnership is to make the most of the chance to offer online certifications and skill-development courses to Pakistani youth.

He emphasised the history of DLSEI and expressed the expectation that the collaboration will grow even more by using a building-blocks approach to progressively expand on their accomplishments. He called on academic institutions, instructors, and students to embrace Coursera courses and seize the chance.

Speaking at the event, Coursera’s Director of International Governments, Mr. Matt Klein, stated that the company is proud to collaborate with HEC in order to provide Pakistan’s future talent with the education and credentials required to realise their full earning potential in the digital economy. According to him, it is encouraging to note that HEC, Pakistan is adapting to the urgent trends by expanding access to education and skills that are relevant to the workforce in order to improve the lives of the nation’s young people.

The Director emphasised DLESI’s national influence. He told the gathering that Coursera helped 99 percent of DLSEI beneficiaries grasp topics and develop their academic skills. According to him, 47 freelancers reported higher incomes as a result of taking Coursera courses, while 93 percent of employees found the platform useful academically. Additionally, 64 percent of employees earned recognition or advancement as a result of the courses. He gave HEC credit for its amazing and remarkable approach to DLSEI implementation.

Member IT HEC Dr. Jamil Ahmad highlighted HEC’s efforts to equip the nation’s young with high-tech facilities in universities and to collaborate with leading technology businesses in his welcome comments. According to him, major international institutions offer foundational and advanced professional and speciality courses that allow professors and students to obtain credentials and enhance their skills in highly sought-after fields. He expressed gratitude to Chairman HEC for showing a strong interest in initiatives aimed at enabling the nation’s young with technology.
