Exams at Punjab University Are Postponed Because of Smog

Due to the city’s rising haze, Punjab University has stated that all planned exams will be postponed.

Students were reassured by university administrators that an updated exam schedule would be released shortly. In order to preserve academic continuity, all linked colleges have been instructed to switch to online instruction.

Important Steps to Address the issue of Smog

To remedy the problem, the government declared the following measures:

  • Closure of Furnace Plants and Brick Kilns: In an effort to cut emissions, all furnace-based businesses and brick kilns in Lahore and Multan have been closed as of Friday.
  • Ban on Heavy Traffic: It is strictly forbidden for heavy vehicles to enter Lahore or Multan.
  • Possible Lockdown: If the air quality does not improve by Wednesday, there may be a complete lockdown on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Limited Restaurant Operations: Restaurants will only be open for business until 4 PM. Up until 8 PM, takeaway will be allowed; after that, all establishments will have to close.
  • Extended Holidays and Online Courses: All Punjabi schools, with the exception of Murree, will be closed till November 24 and will have to switch to online instruction.
  • Stop Construction Activities: With the exception of national-level projects, all construction in Lahore and Multan has been prohibited.
  • Extended Hospital Services: Hospital OPDs will now be open until 8 PM, and holidays for physicians, nurses, and paramedical personnel have been cancelled.

As Punjab’s everyday life is still impacted by the smog crisis, these actions are intended to reduce pollution levels and safeguard public health.
