Twenty-four students from Punjab University are placed under house detention.
24 members of student organisations at Punjab University have been placed under house arrest by the police due to their involvement in a violent altercation a few days ago.
The pupils have been held for 90 days under the 3MPO, according to the police.
Among those arrested were active representatives and employees of student organisations Jamiat, Baloch, and Pakhtun.
A confrontation with student organisations a few days earlier resulted in injuries to both students and university security personnel.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and University Inquiry Committee prevented the police from filing a complaint.
An inquiry committee that was established to look into the causes of the altercation that broke out on Punjab University’s campus two days ago has finished its work and delivered its final report to the vice chancellor.
The committee’s report suggested that Punjab University’s senior security official be fired right away.
The top security officer started the altercation when a security worker attempted to take Mike away from a student.
The top security official ordered the guards to break up the students’ protest. With orders from a senior security officer, security guards attempted to enforce the law on their own.
According to the investigation, a top security official acted as a spokesperson of an anti-student organisation. Action against the students involved in the altercation was also suggested by the committee.
The report recommended disciplinary action against those students who are involved in attacks with glass bottles and who pelted stones.
