Punjab Modifies Winter Break School Schedule
Ahead of the winter season, the Punjab government has announced alterations to the Lahore school schedule. The new timetable will take effect on October 1, 2024, and impact around 1,300 city government elementary and secondary institutions.
Previously, single-shift schools began at 8:00 AM and dismissed students at 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. Classes concluded early on Fridays, at noon. Schools will now begin at 7:45 AM, giving students an earlier start to the day.
The 1:30 PM dismissal hour on weekdays will remain the same; Friday schedules will still conclude at noon. Unrelatedly, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered that all schools in the province that are housed in dangerous and decaying buildings be closed immediately.
The appropriate staff has been directed to check every school building in the province. Any building deemed to be physically unstable will immediately be sealed off to ensure the safety of the pupils.
