On Tuesday, the Punjab government gave its approval to hire 7,354 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) throughout the province.

A special allowance for police officers stationed in the Katcha area was also agreed by the cabinet during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. A Rs 500 million “Endowment Fund for Writers’ Welfare” under the information and culture department was also approved by the cabinet.

The Punjab Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act authorised the establishment of a special court for people with disabilities. The delegation of sub-registrar powers to tehsildars and naib tehsildars was approved conditionally.

The cabinet was given instructions by the CM for the Board of Revenue to present a comprehensive housing program spanning five years. The cabinet also selected new members to the Gujranwala Development Authority and vice chairman of WASA, Gujranwala, and approved the inclusion of Lahore Knowledge Park on Bedian Road under the purview of the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority.

The government’s land exchange policy for housing schemes was amended, sub-registrar powers were granted to legal land transferees, and funds were reallocated for the department of specialised healthcare and medical education to upgrade, build, and renovate tertiary care hospitals.

The Muslim Family Laws Ordinance of 1961 was amended to let assistant directors (local government) to serve as chairs of conciliation councils. This alteration was also accepted.

During the conference, it was announced that a “central portal” would be built to ensure transparent recruitment of CTIs in government universities. Additionally, the cabinet authorised changes to the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess Act of 2015 and gave district health and education CEOs more control over leave and pension benefits.

It was also allowed to employ a government analyst, a provincial drug inspector, and a caretaker ombudsman for Punjab. The Punjab Enforcement & Regulatory Authority (PERA) legal process was expeditiously completed by the chief minister, who underscored the necessity of a capable body to counteract false inflation and hoarding.
