New vice chancellors are appointed to seven Punjabi universities.
The Punjab Higher Education Department has formally announced the appointment of new vice chancellors for seven universities throughout the province.
According to the information provided, Engineer Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja has been named Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Gujrat, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Zubair Iqbal has been named VC of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan.
Furthermore, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila has appointed Prof. Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir has been named VC of the University of Lahore, whereas Prof. Dr. Amir Azam Khan is now the VC of the Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan.
Furthermore, the University of Education, Lahore has named Professor Dr. Akif Anwar Chaudhry as its vice chancellor, re-establishing his position as the institution’s head of faculty.
The announcement highlighted the newly appointed VCs’ vast expertise and qualifications.
The next vice chancellor of UET Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, was previously the chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission. He has also held vice chancellor positions at a number of other universities, including those in Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.
In recognition of his services to higher education, the Pakistani government has bestowed upon him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. He received his PhD from the University of Leeds, UK. The University of the Punjab is where Dr. Munir also obtained his Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah has been appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Punjab, which is another significant appointment.
Dr. Shah took up his new position as soon as the notification was released, and the Punjab Governor, in his capacity as Chancellor, appointed him for a four-year tenure.

Dr. Shah is a distinguished academic with expertise in the biological sciences. His PhD is from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, and he did his post-doctoral work at the University of Missouri in the United States.
Dr. Shah has served in leadership roles at Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, and GCU Faisalabad during his career. The “Best University Teacher Award” was given to him three times since he started his teaching career at Lawrence College in Murree.
Dr. Shah has received 19 national honours for his academic achievements, including the Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal, the Best University Teacher Award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, and Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He has published 235 research papers in national and international publications.
