Russia to Open a Centre of Assistance for Pakistani Students Looking to Enrol in Russian Universities

Building on the positive momentum that their relationship has experienced over the past 20 years, Pakistan and Russia decided on Thursday to further collaboration in order to improve educational links.

Additionally, a deal was made to establish a Russian Facilitation Centre in Islamabad to support applicants to Russian universities.

The initiative was taken during a high-level delegation visit to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) by Andrey Korneev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, and Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Among the delegation were representatives from the Russian Embassy in Pakistan, an associate professor from Ural State Pedagogical University, and a consultant from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The group was given an update on Pakistan’s educational achievements and problems by Secretary FEPT Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.

The two parties examined all aspects of their bilateral educational collaboration and looked into ways to make it better during the talks. They reaffirmed their dedication to fostering educational and cultural interactions. The Pakistani side indicated that it would really want to see more cooperation between universities in Pakistan and Russia, especially in the area of cutting-edge technologies.

The Russian deputy minister highlighted programs aimed at strengthening educational ties and advancing Russian language use in Pakistan.

The group moreover conveyed their readiness to arrange a Russian Educational Expo in Pakistan with the aim of enhancing educational collaboration and advancing technology-driven industrial connections between the two nations.

Plans will be finalised at the upcoming Joint Working Group Meeting, which is scheduled for October 2024, according to an agreement reached by both parties. It is expected that 2025 will be a year of action, encapsulating the spirit of cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.
