The University of Okara’s acting VC appointment was contested at the LHC.

The appointment of Dr. Javed Akhtar as acting vice-chancellor of the University of Okara has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday.

Nonetheless, the motion to immediately remove Dr. Javed Akhtar from his position as vice-chancellor of the University of Okara was denied by the court.

Assistant Professor Dr. Hamid Mukhtar, the petitioner, was instructed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh to revise his plea during Monday’s sessions because it was unmaintainable.

The University of Okara was represented in court by Malik Awais Khalid Advocate.

The petitioner’s attorney contended before the court that an acting vice-chancellor cannot be appointed when a pro vice-chancellor is present.

Malik Awais Malik, the legal adviser for the University of Okara, disputed the petitioner Dr. Hamid Mukhtar’s status as a victim and raised objections to its maintainability.

Additionally, he insisted that Punjab government was not designated a respondent in the petition.
