Students from Pakistan Make Their Country Proud in the International Chemistry Olympiad
At the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 21 to 30, the Pakistani team won a bronze medal.
For Pakistan, Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School took home the bronze medal. Mahnoor Rashid from Lahore Grammar School in Wah Cantt, Marva from Punjab College for Women in Faisalabad, and Syed Mehir Ali Shah from Dubai International Public School and College in Mansehra were also members of the squad.
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah and Prof. M. Khalid Khan, senior professors at the University of Karachi and coordinators of the National Chemistry Talent Contest (NCTC), the team received training at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi.
Drs. M. Raza Shah and Khalid M. Khan thanked the students during a meeting at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi. They expressed gratitude to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for allowing Pakistani students to compete internationally in chemistry.
The gathering was presided over by Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Head of ICCBS University Karachi, who also commended the students’ accomplishments.
