Islamabad’s Primary Schools Will Teach Artificial Intelligence
A new curriculum for information communication technology (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI) has been introduced by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. Students in grades 1 through 5 will study these subjects at elementary schools located throughout the city.
According to the ministry of education, the new curriculum attempts to give students the fundamental IT and AI skills they need to build a strong foundation and get ready for future technological breakthroughs.
The curriculum is made to provide students with viable employment options in technology and artificial intelligence as they progress, the ministry continued.
According to a release, “This curriculum is a living document that will be regularly updated to reflect the latest advancements in technology and AI.” “It aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world,” the statement continued.
The new curriculum was developed by the National Curriculum Council and will be taught in all schools starting next month, according to Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani.
After hiring computer experts, he said, the new curriculum will start the third week of August. Apart from the regular curriculum, pupils will be given additional instruction in AI and IT.
“Our students will gain knowledge about computer navigation, keyboarding, core apps and software, basic computer maintenance, basic coding, etc., after completing primary education,” he stated.
He went on to say that studying AI would help students develop their curiosity, critical thinking abilities, and ethical awareness of AI technology by teaching them basic principles and applications.
The federal secretary stated that the goal is for pupils to acquire these abilities in an enjoyable and engaging way, and that no tests will be given for the IT and AI curriculum in order to minimise stress on them.
