Pakistani Researchers Achieve prestigious medical honours
The UK’s Medical Research Council (MRC) has awarded the “Outstanding Team Impact Prize” to a Pakistani research team.
This honour is given to groups whose combined efforts have made major advances in medical research.
Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Laureate, H.I.S.I.T.I., Prof. Dr. Sammer Yousuf, and academic staff from the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, ICCBs, UoK, and the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry are among the team members.
Their participation in “A Global Network of the Tropical Neglected Diseases (NTD),” directed by Durham University in the United Kingdom and supported by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), is what has earned them prominence.
Scientists from the UK, Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina were part of this global network that was dedicated to fighting protozoan NTDs, particularly leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.
Prof. Choudhary’s initiative in bringing together specialists from many scientific fields emphasises how important team science is to medical research.
The academic community has applauded Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary and his team for their outstanding achievement, and this award is a tremendous honour for Pakistan.
