HEC Advises Students Not to Apply for Two-Year Degrees
Parents and students are advised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to steer clear of the two-year BA, BSc, MA, and MSc degree programmes.
The two-year BA/BSc and MA/MSc programmes were phased down by HEC with deadline extensions of June 30, 2022 for the former and 2019 for the latter.
Some higher education institutions enrolled students to these programmes after the deadlines, even though these two-year degree programmes were gradually phased down.
As a result, HEC has issued warnings to parents, students, and higher education establishments about the fact that degrees earned from these kinds of programmes would not be accepted and validated by HEC.
It is important to note that HEC is able to set requirements for the opening and functioning of higher education institutions, even those that are not connected to the State, in accordance with its Ordinance.
In order to raise the standard of education, HEC is also in charge of developing policies, establishing benchmarks, and choosing priorities in a number of areas pertaining to institutional norms, rules, and regulations.
