Investigation Started After Popular Video Captures Male and Female Students Using Drugs at a Well-Known University
An investigation into a widely shared video clip purporting to show three people using illegal substances on the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) campus has been mandated by Sindh’s acting health minister.
The university’s vice chancellor has been instructed to carry out the inquiry and provide a report in five days.
The footage, which has also been seen on media networks, depicts two female and one male student using illegal substances in the DUHS cafeteria.
“This conduct raises serious concerns and damages the standing of all decent medical practitioners across the nation, not only in Sindh. As role models for our kids, doctors are highly regarded as emblems of pride and honesty, according to Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz.
It is not good for the profession as a whole to see such acts. Specifically, the display of this kind of behavior at Dow, which is recognized as one of Pakistan’s most esteemed establishments, is alarming and necessitates prompt action, he continued.
A DUHS official has stated that the institution is looking into the matter and will take the proper steps after the investigation is finished. “If necessary, the university may seek assistance from law enforcement,” he said.
It is important to note that the provincial government just declared that using e-cigarettes, or vapes, and sheesha in public areas is prohibited. The Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Ordinance 2002 mandates that authorities implement it.
