PEC Presents the Third Excellence Awards, Honoring 29 Pakistani Engineers
The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Excellence Awards honored 29 exceptional engineers from a variety of sectors for their great accomplishments in a lavish ceremony that took place at the President House. Under the direction of President Dr. Arif Alvi, the distinguished awards were given out in the presence of PEC Chairman Engineer Najeeb Haroon and Committee Convener Engineer Lt. Gen ® Moazzam Ejaz.
Convener of the PEC Excellence Awards Committee 2022, Engr. Lt. Gen ® Moazzam Ejaz, addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude for the high-level committee’s hard work in choosing engineers who have demonstrated excellence in a variety of sectors. Eight categories of engineers competed in the selection process, and 29 outstanding candidates were openly selected based on their notable accomplishments.
Academia and Research, Innovation and Emerging Technologies Development, Young Technopreneurs, Engineering Policy, Regulations and Advocacy, and Engineering Consultancy Services & Infrastructure and Construction Industry were among the award categories that included Lifetime Achievement for Distinguished National Service.
Former federal minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Chairman of the WAPDA, Engr. Lt. Gen. Sajjad Ghani, Vice Chancellor of Quaid E Azam University, Prof. Dr. Naiz Akhtar, former CEO of Phillips, Engr. Shahid Zaki, Chief Executive Officer of Engineering and Management Services, Muhammad Zafar Hussain Siddique, Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akbar, Engr. Ibrahim Samoon, Engr. Waseem Nazir, Engr. Mir Masood Rashid, Engr. Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Sulerhi, & Engr. Dr. Waqas Anwar were among the distinguished recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Engr. Dr. Hammad Omer, Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir, Engr. Prof. Dr. Faizullah Khan Kakar, and Engr. Prof. Dr. Khadija Qureshi were honored for their noteworthy accomplishments in the Academia and Research category.
The following individuals received honors for their exceptional contributions to innovation and emerging technologies: engineer Dr. Muhammad Umer; engineer Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand; engineer Syed Tanveer Ahmed Jafri; professor Dr. Murtaza Najabat Ali; and engineer Muhammad Nasir Khalily.
Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman and Engr. Nadeem Ahmed won awards in the Young Technopreneurs category for their outstanding efforts.
For their outstanding work in Engineering Policy, Regulations, and Advocacy, Engineers Farhat Adil and Najam Bilal received awards.
Outstanding achievements were also acknowledged for engineers such as Dr. Zaka Ullah Khan Gandapur, Engr. Arshad Dad, and Engr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, who are excelling in the Engineering Consultancy Services & Infrastructure and Construction Industry.
In his speech, President Dr. Arif Alvi commended Pakistani engineers for their crucial contribution to the earlier growth of Gulf nations. He emphasized that in order to guarantee Pakistan’s sustained development, more engineers are required in a variety of fields. Notwithstanding obstacles, the President recognized the importance of over 22 million freelancers to the nation’s economy and the efficiency of the IT sector.
The varied accomplishments of engineers in areas like nuclear technology, water and electricity, railroads, urban development, transportation, agriculture, telecommunications, manufacturing, and petrochemicals were emphasized by PEC Chairman Engr. Najeeb Haroon. He also highlighted the Pakistan Engineering Council’s strong involvement in international professional forums, where it represents the nation on a worldwide scale.
