Punjab Reveals Eligibility Criteria for New Laptop Scheme
The Punjab government has finalized the eligibility criteria for its laptop distribution scheme, aiming to equip students with digital resources for their education. The decision was made during a high-level review meeting, chaired by Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.
Key officials, including Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Ajmal Chandio and Higher Education Department (HED) Secretary Dr. Farrukh Naveed, attended the meeting to discuss the scheme’s rules, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
Authorities have been directed to fast-track the process, including launching the official web portal, reviewing applications, and announcing the merit list.
In the first phase, laptops will be distributed to students in their first and second semesters. To qualify, BS students must have secured at least 65% in their intermediate exams, while medical students need a minimum of 80%.
Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also stressed the need to complete the online application portal quickly and instructed officials to finalize preparations for the second phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.
This initiative is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to promote digital learning and support higher education students.
