KP Universities Will Adopt Solar Power
In a major step towards converting the province’s universities to renewable energy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi on Friday inaugurated a 750kV solar energy system at the Agricultural University Peshawar.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing green energy in educational institutions during his remarks at the occasion.
“Universities are switching to solar energy. We installed the solar system at Agricultural University today, and solar energy will soon supply all of the remaining electricity needs as well,” Afridi said.
Along with continued efforts to improve the general infrastructure and quality of higher education institutions, the minister also announced plans to extend solar installations to additional universities throughout the province.
In response to the financial difficulties universities confront, Afridi gave the assurance that the government is working hard to assist their growth and guarantee their viability.
The minister planted a tree seedling during the inaugural ceremony to represent the government’s commitment to environmental preservation and its ongoing planting initiative.
