LHC issued a new directive for schools in relation to pollution caused by smog.

All schools must re-register within a month, the Lahore High Court (LHC) said Monday, stressing that noncompliance with the school bus policy will result in the suspension of the school’s registration.

While hearing petitions on the smog problems and solutions, LHC Justice Shahid Karim issued the orders.

In order to alleviate congestion, especially in view of the smog problem, the LHC also instructed the Director-General of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to examine the city’s highways and provide a traffic plan.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts to combat smog, Justice Shahid Karim emphasised the significance of efficient enforcement. “There should be no more delay because environmental protection is a very serious issue,” he said.

Khalid Nazir, the secretary of education, introduced suggested regulations for private schools during today’s proceedings. The new regulation would require all new schools to offer transport to their kids and will only permit institutions that operate buses to register.

“The issue of school buses is very serious,” said Justice Karim, underscoring the need to put all of the regulations into effect before the following season.

The Court also called for quick corrective action due to the absence of enforcement of traffic laws near housing societies and bus terminals on Multan Road.
