In order to resolve the complaints of students waiting for a fair assessment, the National Assembly Standing Committee for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination stated on Tuesday that it was critical to have an open and equitable exam on December 30.

The NA body met, with Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani serving as its chairperson.

The committee carefully considered the issues surrounding 30 questions that were not in the syllabus, which weakened students’ hard work and careful preparation.

The chairman brought attention to the public’s worries over the MDCAT exam, which has left students all throughout the country feeling disappointed.

In order to resolve the complaints of students waiting for a fair assessment, the committee emphasised the significance of holding an open and equitable exam on December 30.

Exam costs are still up for debate; the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has not yet determined whether PM&DC or the students should pay for them.

The committee also suggested that intermediate students be given enough time to prepare, with the MDCAT being scheduled right after the intermediate results are released.

Additionally, the committee members called for a fair distribution of seats, stating that the small number of seats available for students with ICT domicile needed to be addressed.

More than 8,600 of the 22,556 applicants who enrolled for the test on September 22, 2024, have signed up to retake it. The IHC is still considering the case, and university officials have promised infallible preparations for a seamless and open procedure.

The exam will be supervised by PM&DC and university teams.

On December 8, 2024, IBA Sukkur held a retake in seven locations across five Sindh divisions. Of the 38,684 registered candidates, 32,208 (83.26%) showed up. Of them, 16,072 (41.54%) were deemed eligible for the BDS program and 13,718 (35.46%) for the MBBS.
