Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that one lakh e-bikes will be provided to students in Punjab.
Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that one lakh e-bikes will be provided to students in Punjab. She also announced initiatives for international scholarships for students and increased the amount of the merit-based scholarship for talented students from 30,000 to 50,000 annually. At the FAST University, during the ceremony of the Merit Scholarship Program, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif pledged that students would commit to not doing anything against the country and to stay and serve it.
Speaking at the event, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “What kind of leadership is this, where my children are abroad and others’ children are in jails? No mother can teach her children arson, destruction, or violence. Those who teach their children insults and accusations cannot be their well-wishers. It is not ethical to abuse anyone.”
She further said, “The younger generation must vow not to engage in any activity against the nation. I thank the opposition for making me stronger through their harshness. Some opponents are upset that students are receiving scholarships. Only from the Rawalpindi Division, 2,500 students received merit scholarships.”
She emphasized that students are entitled to scholarships regardless of political affiliations. “If you are a talented youth in Punjab, you are eligible for a scholarship,” she said. She added with confidence that 100% merit-based scholarships are being awarded in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also expressed her pride in the scholarship scheme’s success, congratulating Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Secretary Higher Education Farakh Naveed for their contributions. “I want students to focus on their education without worrying about fees. We are also bringing the Punjab Laptop Scheme,” she stated.
She said that every child is like a brick in the structure of Pakistan and we want to make each brick stronger. “Social equality can only be achieved through education. The child of a laborer can also succeed through hard work. I am happy to see the success of the merit scholarship program,” she added.
She also responded to critics saying, “Opponents ask why this is Maryam’s personal money; it is the people’s money, and it is being given back to them. The people’s money was always there, why wasn’t it given before? Parents who work hard still can’t afford education fees; the state should take on this responsibility.”
Maryam Nawaz Sharif concluded by saying, “The money now going to education is your own money. If a rich child can go to a university, why shouldn’t a poor child have the same opportunity? Sixty percent of female students are happy with their scholarships.”
She also shared a moment of joy with students at the event, greeting them warmly and noting, “I am the Chief Minister because of God’s grace and my parents’ prayers. The most deserving of love and respect in this world are your parents. Keep studying, we will continue to clear the paths.”
She highlighted the importance of equal education and stated that, although economic disparities can’t be eradicated, equal education is essential. “I want children to succeed and reach high positions,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also spoke about the e-bike program, introduced to ease transportation difficulties for girls going to college, and promised to continue supporting the youth of Pakistan. “Pakistan is a great blessing from Allah, and because of it, we have everything. We want to make sure our children are never left behind,” she concluded.
