Punjab Causes Confusion by Delaying Winter Vacation Notification

As of December 16, 2024, no formal notification had been released by the Punjab Education Department, despite earlier announcements that winter breaks will start on December 20, 2024, and last until January 10, 2025.

Due to the exceptionally extended winter season, the provincial education minister had already proposed reevaluating the winter break timetable and suggesting changes to the holiday dates.

In spite of this, the department has not made any formal announcement about the change. Parents, educators, and school officials are consequently left in the dark and must wait for an official declaration to make things clear.

Stakeholders are perplexed by the delay and anxiously await an explanation from the government. However, Sindh has declared that Sunday, December 22, 2024, through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, will be the dates of their winter holiday.

The steering committee of the Sindh government’s school education department decided to authorise the 10-day winter holiday. The first day of classes will be Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
