Exams for associate degree programs are probably administered every two years.
The Associate Degree (AD) programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce—formerly known as B.Com, BA, and B.Sc. programs—will henceforth be examined every two years by the University of Karachi.
If accepted, the policy will apply to all public and private universities connected to the University of Karachi.
Exams covering half of the course in six months will be administered twice a year after the biannual system is put into place.
Five months of instruction will be followed by a month-long exam period.
This decision is in accordance with the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) current policy on associate degrees, which was implemented following the nationwide elimination of two-year diploma programs.
Sources claim that Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Iraqi has instructed Professor Dr. Anila Amber Malik, the Secretary of the University of Karachi’s Affiliation Committee, to present the plan for the biannual examination system for Associate Degree Programs at the Academic Council meeting on December 3.
The AD program in linked colleges will transition to the new system, which will be used starting with new admissions, if the Academic Council gives its approval.
It should be noted that for the past four years, the majority of the nation’s public universities have been offering AD programs under the annual examination system. The University of Karachi will probably be the first public university to administer exams for associate degree programs every two years.
