The MDCAT Retake Has Been Postponed Because of Islamabad’s Increasing Political Temperature

The planned protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on November 24 has caused the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024 retake in Islamabad to be postponed.

The test will now take place on Sunday, December 8 at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), according to sources.

Prior to this, SZABMU had announced that admission tests would be retaken on November 24 in response to an order from the Islamabad High Court (IHC). After overturning the previous MDCAT results, the court mandated that the examinations be retaken in Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The IHC ordered the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and SZABMU to administer a new test for applicants within a month after declaring in its October verdict that the original MDCAT 2024 paper was not part of the syllabus. In a one-page directive, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir emphasised fairness and curriculum compliance while directing SZABMU to particularly retake the exam for applicants from Islamabad.
