Salary payments to more than 1,000 ghost teachers are stopped in Sindh.
The Scrutiny Committee reported to the provincial education secretary that more than 1,000 Sindhi teachers had been found to be missing from work.
After several concerns surfaced throughout the province, a committee was established to look into the problem of ghost teachers. Many teachers are currently on prolonged leave overseas, according to sources.
In response to the report’s conclusions, the education secretary has issued formal notifications and directed all district education officers (DEOs) to immediately cease paying these missing teachers.
Eight ghost instructors who had been living overseas but had been paid for the previous two years were previously fired by the Sindh education department. Taluka education officers throughout the province are searching for additional ghost instructors, Secretary Akbar Leghari said, and he threatened to take tough measures against them.
