KP will soon post job openings for 17,000 teachers.
According to Faisal Khan Tarakai, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‘s Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, the provincial government would shortly release a job posting for the hiring of 17,000 teachers.
On Wednesday, he chaired a meeting to review the teacher recruitment policy. The meeting was also attended by Additional Director Dr. Iqbal, Director IT Salahuddin, Special Secretary Qaiser Alam of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, and other senior department officials.
The provincial minister stated that a recruiting procedure for 17,000 teachers would now start in order to cover the numerous vacancies that have been left unfilled by promotions and retirements.
He stated that hiring instructors for schools is a high priority and that both boys’ and girls’ schools would receive them. According to him, the department’s authorities have been instructed to provide the names of all teachers who were on extended leave, took unusual time off to travel overseas, or were on deputation in other departments, and to immediately terminate their leaves and deputations in light of the teacher shortage.
The provincial minister rejected against any compromise on education, stating that teachers’ only responsibility is to teach the boys and girls, regardless of the conditions.
Additionally, Faisal Khan Tarakai instructed the authorities to take action to return all instructors employed on management cadre positions at the secretariat, directorate, or district offices to their true positions and provide a report within a week.
In response to questions about the new hiring’s financial impact, he stated that all 17,000 of the instructors will be hired for positions that previously existed. Therefore, the provincial kitty won’t be burdened further. He did, however, state that the Finance Department will issue a no objection certificate (NOC) in this respect immediately.
