Following court rulings, PMDC delays medical and dental admissions across the country.

In response to the court decisions, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued a direction to stop accepting new students to medical and dental institutes in all four provinces.

The announcement affects admissions for MBBS and BDS programs in both public and private institutions, and it comes in response to decisions from the Sindh High Court and the Islamabad High Court.

The official announcement from the PMDC states that Punjabi medical colleges have suspended admissions, which were supposed to start on October 21.

In addition to Punjab, other provinces including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan are also impacted by the suspension.

Until additional court decisions, medical and dental institutes in these locations are mandated to stop accepting new students for their MBBS and BDS programs.

All universities approved to manage admissions to medical and dentistry colleges throughout the provinces have been informed of the decision by the PMDC.

It states that admittance to dentistry and medical schools have been delayed pending the outcome of judicial cases.

According to the official communication, these schools must abide by the court’s instructions and stop the admissions process until the cases are settled.

For thousands of prospective medical students across who were getting ready to start their academic careers, the suspension comes at a crucial moment.

Since the matter is now connected to the ongoing legal processes in the individual courts, it is yet unclear when the admissions process will recommence.

Students and their families are concerned about the PMDC’s decision since it will cause a delay in the start of classes for dental and medical programs throughout Pakistan. As the situation changes in light of the court decisions, the council has said that it will provide more updates.
