Pakistan’s First-Ever Mathematics Olympiad is Launched by FBISE and LUMS

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have announced the inaugural “Pakistan Mathematics Olympiad,” a thrilling development for math-loving kids nationwide.

The tournament, which is scheduled for mid-December, is expected to be a historic occasion meant to promote mathematical brilliance among high school students nationwide, according to the FBISE.

All students enrolled in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSSC) or A Level and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or O Level, as well as those with similar credentials from all educational streams in the nation, are eligible to apply for the PMO.

Participants will have a stage to demonstrate their mathematical prowess at this Olympiad. The competition aims to draw the brightest young mathematicians from all over Pakistan with a plethora of outstanding prizes up for grabs, including cash rewards, medals, computers, and scholarships for admission to leading colleges in Pakistan.

With the help of these rewards, we hope to inspire a new generation of problem solvers and critical thinkers and motivate pupils to strive for mathematical brilliance.

By visiting the official FBISE website at www.fbise.edu.pk/pmo.php, interested students can register for the competition, read the syllabus, sample question papers, and more information. The registration price is set at PKR 1000 per candidate.

As part of this partnership, LUMS has created an extensive curriculum that is especially suited for the PMO. A model question paper has also been created to help students prepare and comprehend the contest paper better. It provides them with important information about the structure and degree of difficulty of the competition.

Students from a variety of educational backgrounds will be able to participate and display their mathematical abilities on a national stage thanks to this inclusive approach.
