In Punjab, Commerce Colleges Are Becoming IT Institutes

According to departmental sources, the Department of Higher Education has started a scheme to turn all 85 of Punjab’s commerce institutions into IT institutes. The program, which was initially unveiled in July of this year, was prompted by a precipitous fall in student interest in commerce, as each college’s enrolment fell to less than 100 members.

The government is currently paying Rs 300,000 on each commerce student, according to officials, which is what has caused the move to IT education. With this conversion, we hope to better prepare students for the expanding demand for IT skills across the globe and make education more relevant.

E-libraries will be installed in Lahore’s IT institutions as part of the proposal, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced. He emphasised the project’s objective of making Punjab a competitive player in the global IT market.

Within the following ten days, it is anticipated that the transformation process and the hiring of IT specialists will get underway.
