Positive News About the PM Laptop Program for AIOU Students
The National Assembly was given assurances on Thursday by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, that Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) students would be part of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme.
Shahida Begum brought up a calling attention notice on AIOU students being left out of the program. The minister responded by saying that the PM’s Laptop Scheme has not yet been decided upon in its entirety. He told the assembly, nevertheless, that this matter will be discussed and decided upon.
Siddiqui highlighted the government’s dedication to ensuring that the program benefits AIOU students, pointing out that since its inception in 2013, the program has given out more than 10,000 computers to students, both from AIOU and Virtual University (VU).
Shahida Begum emphasized that a large number of AIOU students came from underprivileged backgrounds, especially those who attend from rural districts of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. She emphasized that these students heavily rely on computers for their studies, particularly those pursuing Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees.
