Punjab Government Starts Student “Lifesavers Initiative”

The “Lifesavers Initiative” was introduced by the Punjabi government on Tuesday at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). The goal of this curriculum is to teach university and college students the fundamentals of bleeding management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The goal of the campaign, which was launched in conjunction with World First Aid Week, is to motivate Punjab’s schoolchildren to learn life-saving skills. The Emergency Services Department Secretary, Dr. Rizwan Naseer, highlighted the program’s objective of equipping every home with a trained first aider in order to create a nation of lifesavers.

Vice Chancellor of LCWU Uzma Qureshi emphasised the value of the course and urged instructors and students to take the training seriously. She mentioned that Rescue 1122 had already completed a rigorous three-day course that prepared thousands of pupils to be lifesavers. Qureshi thanked the Community Safety Wing for their dedication to the training initiatives.

Rescue 1122 will provide life-saving skills training to students at Punjab universities and colleges as part of the Lifesavers Initiative. Khwaja Salman Rafique, the Punjab Minister for Health and Emergency Services, and Rana Sikandar Hayat, the Punjab Minister for School Education, spoke during the launch. The government’s intention to promote a safety-conscious culture was demonstrated when they revealed intentions to extend the program to all provincial educational institutions.

Earlier in the day, LCWU students who had finished the lifesaver course demonstrated in real time their newly learnt CPR and bleeding control techniques. These pupils promised to encourage their peers to support the life-saving initiative.
