KP to Open New Public Schools in Leased Spaces
It has been decided that government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would now function out of rented buildings rather than new construction.
Reports citing official papers state that work is underway to launch a project under the concept of renting buildings because of financial challenges and the need of providing school facilities. 650 elementary and middle schools will open in rented premises during the first phase of the project.
According to sources, it takes five years and thirty million rupees to create a school building, which is not possible because the treasury is empty.
According to reports, the documents specify that the rental schools will be built in districts that have combined and settled. The project is expected to cost 1.4 billion rupees, but it will save more than 5 billion rupees.
The records state that the schools will be rented for three, four, and five years.
Officials from the education department have said that the decision to begin classes in rented buildings was made because of difficulties. More pupils will have access to school facilities because to this project.
