Huge Salary Increase for Vice Chancellor Approved by HEC

The pay rise for university vice-chancellors has been approved by the Federal Higher Education Commission. HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed presided over the 43rd meeting, where this decision was taken.

The group came to the conclusion that pay for vice-chancellors nationwide needed to be raised and standardised since they were too low. The new pay, which includes all allowances, will be equivalent to that of a tenure-track professor at Rs. 1 million.

Furthermore, the Transnational Policy 2024 was agreed at the meeting. According to this guideline, in order to admit students, 35 Pakistani universities and colleges connected to overseas universities must have a fresh No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Before opening admissions, these institutions need to form partnerships with universities that are among the top 700 in the world, acquire a NOC from their home country, and then obtain a NOC from Pakistan.
