After 50 years of education, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1974 to 2024).

The university reported that AIOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood made the decision to host 24 activities from January to December 2024 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee.

In this context, a number of department-organized seminars and conferences, an alumni ceremony, an education expo, and convocations for the Punjab, KP, and Islamabad chapters were held. The chapters of Sindh and Balochistan are about to convene as well.

In February 14 and 15, there was a two-day International Conference on Modern Trends in Chemistry; on February 28 and 29, there was a two-day International Conference on Research and Practices in Education; and on May 22–24, 2024, there was a three-day International Conference on Ijtihad Bil Maqasid.

On October 15–17, the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) will host its 37th annual international conference. Around 250 national-level education experts and researchers from open universities across Asia, as well as over 100 vice-chancellors, rectors, and professors, will present papers at the conference.

The dates of the 2nd International Conference on Cultural Dialogue are July 2, 3rd, 2024.

According to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, around half a million students have graduated from AIOU to date, and almost every family in Pakistan has at least one student from an Open University.

Dr. Nasir Mahmood has stated that we will actively participate in integrating out-of-school youth into the educational network in honour of the AIOU’s Golden Jubilee.
