Allama Iqbal Open University ranked 17th in the world among 2175 universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024

Allama Iqbal Open University has secured the first position in Pakistan among 91 universities and 17th position globally among 2175 universities in SDG 4 (Quality Education) in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for the year 2024. Addressing the ceremony celebrating the honor in educational standards ranking, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Naseer Mahmood said that this success reflects our special attention to improving educational standards. He directed the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization and other related departments to accelerate efforts to achieve the SDGs where we lag behind and to maintain the positions we have achieved.

He stated that special attention will be given to fostering a culture of research at the Allama Iqbal open university so that excellence can also be achieved in this field. The Vice Chancellor instructed the heads of departments to provide further facilities to students so that they face no difficulty in obtaining education. Previously, Dr. Saima Naseer, Additional Director Research at the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization, while presenting a presentation on securing positions in quality education, said that last year the university ranked 25th among 1304 universities in the ranking of quality education, whereas this year it has secured 17th position among 2175 universities globally. Moving from 25th to 17th position within a year is the result of the efforts of the Overwork Office and the recent measures taken to increase educational standards by the Vice Chancellor.

The participants of the ceremony congratulated the Vice Chancellor on securing the first and seventeenth positions in the ranking of educational standards. All four deans, professors, and principal officers of the university participated in the ceremony. The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a cake to celebrate the success.
