Allama Iqbal Open University Grants Approval for New Course Offerings

At a meeting that was attended by department heads, main officials, and outside members, the Academic Council of Allama Iqbal Open University approved the launch of new programmes, including BS programmes, PGD programmes, certificate courses, and short courses.

This was the 51st meeting of AIOU‘s Academic Planning and Development/Research and Educational Technology Committee (APD/RET) and the 67th meeting of the Academic Council.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood presided over the meeting, which Registrar Raja Umer Younis had coordinated. It was decided to approve the prior meeting’s minutes by unanimous vote.

A number of courses given by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, and Faculty of Sciences have had their titles and content changed, with approval from the council.

A brief IELTS course, a PGD in Clinical Nutrition, and BS programmes in Political Science, International Relations, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Environmental Studies are among the recently approved courses.

The Directorate of Academic Planning and Course Production, the Directorate of Regional Services, and the Examination Department approved agenda items as well.

When creating courses and creating instructional materials, vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood instructed deans and faculty members to follow university and Higher Education Commission guidelines. He gave a brief introduction to the new members and pledged to work towards raising educational standards.

The next meeting of the University’s Supreme Body, the Executive Council, will approve these choices.
