Pakistan’s Federal Minister Wants to Declare an Emergency in Education

In order to ensure that no child is left behind, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the federal minister for education and professional training, announced that he would advise the federal cabinet and prime minister to declare a national education emergency.

On Wednesday, the minister presided over a meeting where representatives of the Ministry of Federal Education gave him an update on the many initiatives and programmes that the ministry is working on to improve education in Pakistan.

The Ministry hosted the discussion, which was centred on important steps to deal with the urgent problems facing the education sector.

Minister Siddiqui voiced her severe concern about Pakistan’s startlingly high rate of out-of-school youth at the meeting. He said that he will advise the Federal Cabinet and the Prime Minister to declare a national education emergency in response to this situation.

The goal of this proclamation is to ensure that no child is left behind by reintegrating these out-of-school youth into the educational system.

In addition, Minister Siddiqui gave the Ministry instructions to quickly develop a plan to train one million IT and technology professionals, with the urgency of a wartime endeavour.

The National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) will provide funding for this programme, which aims to give workers the skills they need to prosper in a fast changing technology environment.

Apart from attending to children’s scholastic needs, Minister Siddiqui announced plans to introduce a School Meals Programme at all Government Primary Schools in Islamabad.

This programme will support students’ general health and hygiene in addition to ensuring that they receive a healthy diet. Dr. Khalid stressed the government’s steadfast dedication to expanding everyone’s access to high-quality education.

He acknowledged that closing the gender literacy gap would require concentrating on girls’ education and that doing so would be a critical first step in accomplishing national development objectives.

Dr. Khalid declared that a National Conference will be held in association with SIFC in order to advance these goals. By utilising the transformative potential of technology, this conference seeks to tackle learning poverty and solve the issue of out-of-school children.

Minister Siddiqui concluded by restating the government’s commitment to transforming Pakistan’s educational system. The Ministry hopes to give the country’s young a better future by putting comprehensive initiatives into practice and encouraging cooperation with important stakeholders.
